We're reopening for dine-in service
IMG_1966.jpg

Hey friends,

We are thrilled to share that Urban Roots will be reopening for dine-in service this Friday, May 29. Not ready to dine-in? That’s okay! You’ll still be able to order online with curbside pickup.

California has provided restaurants with a set of guidelines for reopening and over the past week our team has been working to ensure that we are prepared to welcome you back. You’ll notice some differences around here such as limited seating to practice social distancing, employees wearing masks, and no more waiting in long lines.

For answers to frequently asked questions, click here.

Here are some tips on how to have the best experience and a heads up on what you can expect before you arrive:

  • Make A Reservation: Use our online reservation service to book a table in advance and we will seat you when you arrive. Walk-ins are welcome if tables are available. However we highly recommend making a reservation before you arrive to ensure that we can seat you. Please note that your entire party must be present before we can seat you. Tables are limited to a maximum of six people including children. Time slots will be limited to two hours for each party with a 30 minute break for cleaning between reservations.

  • Contactless Ordering: No more waiting in line! In an effort to encourage social distancing we will be using a contactless ordering system. Once you are seated you will be able to order directly from your smartphone via the ToastTakeout app or by ordering directly from our website. Once you have placed an order you can kick back and we’ll do the rest.
Pro tip: Download the ToastTakeout app before you arrive and create a profile for the quick and easy ordering.

  • Social Distancing: Please maintain six feet of distance between you and other guests whenever possible. Keep wandering from your table to a minimum out of respect for each other and our team. Tables have been spaced six feet apart to meet the state and federal guidelines. We’ll bring condiments, silverware, napkins and anything else you might need to your table.

  • Food + Beer: All beer orders for in-house consumption must include food on the same transaction. This is a requirement by the state of California and there are no exceptions. We’ve got a full kitchen with plenty of food that will pair well with your beer.

  • Face Coverings: Wearing a face covering is not required for guests but is required for our team when they are interacting with guests. California suggests that all people wear a face covering whenever social distancing is not possible.

So we've made some changes...but what hasn’t changed are the great vibes and friendly service or the tasty food and beer that you know and love. To help ensure everyone’s safety as we welcome you back into our dining rooms, we ask that we make the following promises to each other.

Our promise to you...

● We will continue leading in safe sanitation practices in both the restaurant and brewery. Health and safety for everyone is a top priority.

● All employees have been instructed to stay home if they are feeling any symptoms of sickness and have paid sick leave available to them.

● Our indoor & outdoor seating meet all social distancing guidelines.

● Hand sanitizer and handwashing stations are available to all guests.

● We clean and sanitize all tables and hard surfaces after every use. Each table has been thoroughly cleaned before you are seated.

● All place settings, utensils, menus, and condiments are sanitized after every use or are single-use.

● We are here for you. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask for a manager.

Your promise to us...

● If you have been exposed to COVID-19 recently or have symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, or shortness of breath), please help us keep everyone safe by using our contactless delivery/takeout options

● If you have underlying health conditions or are otherwise concerned about contracting COVID-19, please use our curbside takeout option.

● You will help us practice social distancing by maintaining 6 feet of distance between you and other guests whenever possible.

If you have any questions about our operations or our promise to you, please email us at hello@urbanrootsbrewing.com and we’ll respond as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing y’all this weekend!

Cheers,

Your Friends Urban Roots

—————————————————————————

Hello friends — these past few days have been full of strangeness and uncertainty. We’ve been experiencing all of this with you as it unfolds and not just as a business but as people too. We’ve already seen some of the immediate effects on our community and anticipate that there are more to come. Our first priority here has always been to create a safe and clean space for our guests and we remain committed to that. ⠀

As a brewery and restaurant we adhere to strict cleaning procedures on a regular basis. However, in these times we recognize that it is important for us to do everything we can to ensure health and safety for our guests as well as our team. ⠀

Earlier this week we set up a hand sanitizer station by the front door and added extra cleaning procedures to our daily tasks. We’re cleaning all surfaces thoroughly and frequently including door handles, ordering stations, tables, chairs, napkin dispensers, etc. If you’d like someone to give your space an extra wipe down before you get seated please don’t hesitate to ask! ⠀

We understand that some folks might not want to venture out into public for very long. So we’d like to remind you that we’ve got a cooler full of cans and bottles that you can take home to enjoy. We also accept to go food orders via phone. Give us a call at (916) 706-3741 and choose option 1 to place your order and we’ll have it ready for you to pick up. ⠀

Most importantly — be kind to each other and we can all get through this together. If you have any questions or concerns, email us at hello@urbanrootsbrewing.com and we’ll be in touch with you as soon as possible.

Why do you sell out of smoked meats?
IMG_7246-2.jpg

Brisket is one of our most popular smoked meats and is always in high demand. On a typical Saturday we sell over 200 pounds of brisket. So it’s no surprise that on most nights we sell out before closing time. This is a common occurrence at the hottest BBQ joints in Texas — in fact some places just close for the day once they sell out. ⠀

Make no mistake — we want to sell out of our meats on a daily basis. But why does this happen you might ask? We pride ourselves on putting out high quality product so reheating leftover food isn’t an option. Anything that we don’t sell is at risk of going to waste and we don’t want that either. ⠀

The process for smoking our brisket starts almost 24 hours before it even goes into the smoker. Our butchers trim, rub, and season each brisket before letting it marinade for 12 to 24 hours. Each brisket is then smoked for 9 hours and then wrapped with butcher paper and placed back into the smoker to finish.

As you can tell a lot of hard work, time and love goes into all of our smoked meats. We spend all night smoking for lunch service and all day smoking for dinner service. So there’s no magic way to make more quickly — when it’s sold out, it’s sold out. And that’s really something to be excited about.
