It’s no secret that we love Sacramento. Over the past two decades we’ve watched this city grow and we’re so proud to be a part of it. When we first came up with the idea for Urban Roots there was no question that it would be here in Sacramento where both Rob and Peter grew up and got their start in the industry. In the past year we’ve experienced so much love and support from the community and we really can’t say thank you enough.
One of the first professional brewers I ever met was Brian Hunt, owner of Moonlight Brewing Company in Santa Rosa, California. It was in the basement brewery of the long closed Hogshead Brewpub in Old Sacramento when he was there delivering kegs for their guest taps. I was sniffing around the brewery looking for my first pro job and struck up a conversation with him about being a pro-brewer in a time when so few craft breweries existed…
Aloha! We’re so excited to invite you to join us for a weekend full of fun with our friends at Maui Brewing Co. We’ll be releasing Maui Rootz, a Dark & Stormy inspired strong ale with fresh lime and ginger that was aged in Hawaiian rum barrels and brewed in collaboration with @MauiBrewingCo. The festivities kick off at Urban Roots on Friday June 8th at 5pm when we tap Maui Rootz and will run all weekend. We’ll be serving up food specials including Smoky Poke and a Hawaiian Pork Plate plus Maui Brewing is bringing some of their tasty beers for you to enjoy! Head over to our Facebook page to get all the details and be sure to mark your calendars so you don’t miss out.
We like to brew beer with extraordinary humans for extraordinary humans which is why we teamed up with Three Weavers for our final collaboration in celebration of our opening. Extraordinary Humans is a bourbon barrel aged imperial porter that we brewed quite some time ago. In fact it was the very first collaboration beer that we brewed! It will be available in cans at Three Weavers on May 19th and on tap here at Urban Roots.
Saison du Kashi is a collaboration with our awesome friends at Beachwood Brewing. It's a multigrain saison featuring Italian Pilsner malt, spelt and rye. This is one of four collaboration beers that we'll be pouring on opening day at Urban Roots, including Pallet Treasure and New Digs.
Earlier this year we took a trip out to Truckee to brew a wheat wine collaboration beer with our friends at FiftyFifty Brewing. We’re calling the beer “New Digs” to celebrate our future opening. This is one of a few special collaborations that we’ll be pouring on opening day and we’re really excited about it.
We teamed up with our friends at Bottle Logic Brewing in Anahiem, CA to brew Pallet Treasure, an Imperial Chocolate-Covered Nutroll Stout. Stay tuned to find out when and where this beer will be poured first!
